I was just sitting here thinking about when Damon told Elena he would see her “real soon.” And it occured to me that he knew Alaric was going to kill him. And he would infact be seeing her, but she woulndt see him. He was going to infact leave as he promised his brother. That maybe he could go to Jeremy and be able to really tell Elena bye. To let her know he kept his promise. And he would never truly have to leave her again. That he would always be there with her. Always.
